Womens March Modesto Gears Up For 2018

Women’s March Modesto has announced their local march, rally and unity gathering “Hear Our Vote” on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. Make plans to join and activate the community. Since the historic national Women’s March in 2017, Women’s March Modesto has been working toward getting out the vote in 2018.

“The mission of the Women’s March is to harness the political power of women along with their supporters and their communities to create transformative social change,” explained Patty Hughes, Women’s March Modesto, Chairwoman and organizer.

Women’s March is a non-partisan female-led movement providing intersectional education on a range of issues and creating entry points for new grassroots activists and organizers to engage with and in their local communities through training, outreach programs, and events. They are focusing on voter education, voter outreach, and voter empowerment, all encompassed in the message for this year … ‘Hear Our Vote.’

Speakers Include: Senator Cathleen Galgiani, Belinda Rolicheck - Stanislaus County Commission for Women, May Rico – Haven Women’s Center of Stanislaus, Monica Miranda – Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Jocelyn Cooper – Peace Life Center.

Women’s March Modesto is working with Women’s March California 2018, which is composed of 18 different marches, is part of a national movement to unify and empower those who stand for women’s rights, human rights, civil liberties, and social justice for all.

The Women’s March events are non-partisan and peaceful and will give people the opportunity to unite in every state and major metropolitan area and stand in solidarity for the American values the groups represent.

Saturday’s rally begins at Briggsmore and McHenry Avenue, Modesto at 10 a.m. The march from the rally to Graceada Park begins at 11 a.m.

Participants can pick up the march at any place along the route. The rally, program and music will begin at noon at Graceada Park Pavilion.

There will be a Volunteer Meeting and Sign Party: Thursday, Jan. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at McHenry Bowl in Modesto.
