There’s still plenty of time – and lots of spots available – to get involved with Love Escalon 2018.

The local day of service is being planned for Saturday, April 21, beginning at 8 a.m., with a kickoff rally at the Escalon Youth Center.

Coordinating the Love Escalon volunteer workday is Brittany Doornenbal, and she can be reached at loveescalon@att.net for more information or to sign up for a project.

Work is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. for the volunteer efforts and conclude by noon.

Openings are available for all projects, including work at the Escalon Historical Museum, the Escalon Library and at Heritage House, where food boxes will be distributed.

Also, bus washing will be done at the Escalon High School bus garage, there are projects at the Escalon Animal Shelter, yard clean up at the Laundromat, work at Paddack Mobile Manor, general trash pick-up in neighborhoods and gardening and painting work at the Escalon Post Office.

Love Escalon begins at 8 a.m. at the Escalon Youth Center on the corner of Escalon and Yosemite, with a brief rally for all participants before going to your project location.

Officials said there is also a limited supply of “Love Escalon” T-shirts that will be available for sale for $5 each and there will be Starbucks coffee, music and goodies to get the morning started. Representatives from Escalon Police, Escalon Fire and Escalon Community Ambulance are expected to be on hand as well and all volunteers will receive a ticket good for a free personal pizza a D’Boni’s.

After your work project for the day is finished, everyone is welcome to use their D’Boni’s Pizza tickets and have lunch together to wrap up the volunteer service day.
