The artwork of 15 talented Valley students is featured in the 2016 Healthy Air Living Kids’ Calendar, a bilingual, full-color wall calendar just released by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.

The annual educational calendar showcases 15 original works of art chosen from hundreds of entries by children in each of the eight counties that make up the Valley Air District. The creative and colorful drawings illustrate a monthly clean-air message in both English and Spanish, such as “Clear skies, healthy lives” and “Use an electric lawnmower.”

Students selected for the 2016 calendar include Aria Delgado, a Sanger sixth grader, whose intricate detailed drawing graces the calendar cover, as well as: Sophia Torres, 1st grade, Modesto; Parth Mishra, 2nd grade, Merced; Advaitaa Shyam, 2nd grade, Merced; Noah Caskey, 2nd grade, Hanford; Darrel DJ Knight, 2nd grade, Hanford; Katie Heinks, 2nd grade, Visalia; Althea Mumford, 2nd grade, Turlock; Esteli Means, 4th grade, Bakersfield; Eliel Crisanto, 4th grade, Lodi; Viana Aiyabei, 6th grade, Fresno; Safia Haq, 6th grade, Fresno; Jocelynn Urquidez, 6th grade, Merced; Monica Pena, 7th grade, Bakersfield; Katie Thompson, 11th grade, Oakhurst.

The calendars are distributed to schools, community groups, healthcare facilities, churches, civic organizations and non-profit groups throughout the Valley. The District prints 20,000 copies of the popular, free publication, which promotes Healthy Air Living throughout the year.
