Two special events are being hosted on Super Bowl Sunday – but early enough for you to take part and still get home in plenty of time for the game and all the pre-game hoopla.

First, help out El Portal Middle School and enjoy some exercise at the same time. The El Portal Panther 5k and 1-mile Fun Run/Walk are scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 7 starting at 8 a.m. The start and finish line will be at El Portal Middle School at 805 First St., Escalon. Cost is $30 for the 5k run and $25 for the 1 mile Fun Run. Cost for Escalon Unified School District students for either event is $20.

Proceeds from this annual event benefit the El Portal Parents Club General Fund. Register online at active.com or in the El Portal Middle School office. For more information, contact Annette Wing at 209-606-7161. The event is sponsored by the El Portal Parents Club.

You can also stop by the cafeteria/multi-purpose room at Escalon High School for the Escalon Sunrise Rotary Club’s annual Super Bowl Breakfast, which features omelets made-to-order. The breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 7 costs $8.50 per person and tickets are available from any Rotary Club member, from Duane Lovett at Bank of the West and they will also be available at the door. Featured are the omelets (choose your own fillings) along with an assortment of pastries, fruit, biscuits, juice and coffee. There will also be a number of opportunity drawing items available.

Hours for the Super Bowl Sunday breakfast are 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Proceeds benefit Escalon High School scholarships.
