Students Seek Help Giving Gift Of Life

Escalon High School will host a special holiday Blood Drive on Monday, Dec. 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Escalon High Theater/Performing Arts Center.

This holiday season, give the gift of life, as every blood donation can help save the lives of up to three individuals. Student organizers said though the drive is primarily intended for school students and staff, they are also opening it up to the community to help bolster the blood supply at this hectic time of the year. Adults and non-high school students should get a visitors pass in the high school office, then head to the theater to take part in the blood drive.

High school students donating will be excused during a class period; a permission slip is required for donors under 17; a form of identification is required of all donors.

The drive is being held in conjunction with Delta Blood Bank, which worked with students earlier this year in a drive hosted at the library.

Sponsors, which are providing incentives for the drive, include Mountain Mike’s, In-N-Out Burger, Hula’s Restaurant and Subway.

All blood donated helps fill the need in local hospitals in a multi-county area serviced by Delta Blood Bank.

Call for more information, 209-481-5520 or email escalon.interact@gmail.com.

The blood donation process takes about an hour and includes registration, a brief health screening, the actual donation and a 15-minute rest period with refreshments following the donation.
