SOLAR EVENT
Shadows eclipse pix

The solar eclipse on Monday blocked out about 75 percent of the sun’s light in the Central Valley for a brief period in the morning; viewers needed special glasses to safely view the sun being covered by the moon. On the ground, there were many ways to see the phenomenon, including here, as the crescent shapes of what remained of the sun were projected through the leaves of a tree at the Escalon Times-Oakdale Leader-Riverbank News office shortly after 10 a.m. on Aug. 21.
