Escalon High School hosted a special event on Thursday, Nov. 10 to honor and salute local veterans, who were invited to attend as special guests. Top photo, American Legion members Angelo Blanco, left, and Vince Giovaniello, right, carefully fold the flag while Casey den Ouden explains what each fold means. At side, Sergeant First Class retired Karl R. Knutsen of Manteca talks to the assembled students about what military service means not only to the soldier but their families and, below, members of the Peer Interaction Team put on a skit, the family gathering for Thanksgiving Dinner as their loved one writes a letter to them while stationed in a war zone far from home.
