An early morning fire call in Escalon saw several other departments respond to the scene as well, with the report of a structure fire coming in just after 1:15 a.m.

Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Terry Pinheiro said the call was in the 2300 block of East River Road.

“When they went on scene, they had a fully involved attic fire that eventually burned through and burned the roof off of the house,” Pinheiro said of crews arriving in the early morning hours. “It caused damage inside the house as well.”

There were no injuries reported and Pinheiro said it was believed that a couple was living at the single-story home. It appears they have now brought in a travel trailer for temporary lodging, Pinheiro added.

Along with Escalon firefighters, crews were called in for mutual aid from Farmington, Ripon and Stanislaus Consolidated fire departments. Escalon returned to service at its station at roughly 9:30 a.m. Saturday, after spending several hours at the fire scene for fire suppression and clean-up efforts.
