ecc

The first of the season Sunday in the Park event is scheduled this weekend in Escalon.

Sponsored by the Escalon Chamber of Commerce, the festivities are planned in and around the Main Street Park on June 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Throughout the park on Sunday, there will be classic automobiles on display, owned by members of the Modesto Regional Horseless Carriage Club, while kids can also take time to make Father’s Day cards.

Assisting with the cards will be Gerri Andrade from Stampin’ Up and local Heck of a Deal proprietor Will Hecht, in cooperation with Lorina Cajias of Lorina’s Edible Garden, will help kids plant seedlings to take home. All children making Father’s Day cards, meanwhile, will receive a coupon good for a Father’s Day frozen treat at the Big Dipper courtesy of owner Brittney Morino. Also featured will be face painting by Sonya Huff, coloring books and crayons provided by the Oak Valley Art Society and displays of art work by some of its members.

A book giveaway will be hosted by The Friends of the Escalon Library and members will also be taking sign-ups for the Summer Reading Club. To tempt the taste buds, popcorn will be provided by the Escalon Historical Society and attendees can also enjoy grilled hot dogs donated by Mar Val with condiments provided by Heinz Escalon.

Tours of the historic caboose in the park will be available and music for the event will be provided by Rich Olds.

Families are encouraged to come out and enjoy a day of family fun in the park.
