March Meeting Set
Monthly meetings to plan Escalon’s 2016 Relay For Life are open to all those interested in getting involved. Meetings will be at the Escalon Ambulance building on Ullrey Avenue the second Thursday of the month unless otherwise specified. The next meeting is set for March 10, followed by April 14 and May 12, with team captain/participant meetings at 6:30 p.m.; committee meetings prior to that from 5:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Relay For Life of Escalon will be hosted at Escalon High School on June 25 and 26 this year.
Paint The Town
Participants in the Relay For Life of Escalon 2016 will meet to ‘Paint the Town Purple’ on the morning of June 11, gathering at the city’s Main Street Park for the 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. event. Ribbons will be tied on trees, lamp posts and signs, the purple ribbons signifying the color of survivorship. Following that, a Survivor Birthday Party will be hosted, with location and time information to be announced at a later date.
Team Fundraisers
Nuts for Life and Team Saron are putting on their ‘Relay For Life Tri-Tip Dinner For 4’ on Saturday, March 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Saron Lutheran Church, 1742 North St., Escalon. Tickets are $40 and that includes a whole BBQ tri-tip, four baked potatoes, a bag of salad, a loaf of French bread and a two-liter bottle of soda. Team Cancer Stampers will host its fifth annual Relay For Life Bunco Bash on Saturday, March 26 at 2 p.m. at the Escalon Azores Band Hall, 1436 First St., Escalon. Train Ride For Relay
Ride a vintage train on the original Transcontinental Route on the Niles Canyon Railway and support Relay For Life. This seventh annual trip is set for Saturday, April 23 with departures at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. from Sunol Depot, 6 Kilkare Road, Sunol. Train ticket prices are $25 for adults, $15 for children 2 to 12, under 2 ride free. Make checks payable to the American Cancer Society. Cash is also accepted at the depot and all proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Tickets are valid only on Saturday, April 23 for the time shown on the ticket.
