An Escalon man who pleaded no contest in connection with a crash that claimed two lives in June, 2014 has been sentenced to eight months in county jail and put on three years’ probation.

Paul A. DaSilva, 42, was sentenced last week after entering the no contest plea last July. He began serving his sentence in the Stanislaus County Jail on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Authorities said DaSilva was the driver of a vehicle that ran a red light and was speeding on Dale Road when it crashed into a minivan near the Kaiser Medical Center on June 16, 2014. A 12-year-old girl and a 47-year-old man were killed in the crash while a 14-year-old boy had major injuries.

DaSilva entered the ‘no contest’ plea to two counts of vehicular manslaughter in the case.
