Throughout the Escalon community and in local schools, the emphasis was on reading for fun and entertainment this past week, with Read Across America observed. It was part of the celebration for the birthday of Dr. Seuss and kicked off with a Wednesday, March 1 program at the Escalon Library featuring puppeteer and magician Tony Borders. Other festivities featured guest readers in elementary schools, the ‘Cat in the Hat’ making appearances and special art projects around the theme.
