The newly established Tri-Valley – San Joaquin Valley Regional Rail Authority will be hosting a pair of public workshops in San Joaquin County in early March. The purpose of the workshops is to provide an update on project planning to date and to provide the public the opportunity to review and comment on stations that are proposed for further planning and development.

The Authority was created by the California Legislature in 2017 to plan, develop and deliver cost-effective transit connectivity between the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) and Altamont Corridor Express (ACE). The Authority has established an Ad Hoc Committee on Rail Stations in San Joaquin County.

The Ad Hoc Committee is chaired by Tracy Mayor Pro Tem Veronica Vargas. The first workshop is scheduled for Monday, March 5 at 6 p.m. at the Tracy Transit Center, 50 E. Sixth St., in Tracy. The second workshop will be held a week later on Monday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at Lathrop City Hall, 390 Towne Centre Drive in Lathrop. Additional information on the rail authority is available at acetobart.org.

The Authority is to provide a project feasibility report to the public on the plans for the development and implementation of transit connectivity no later than July 1, 2019.
