Modesto Convention Corporation is hosting a unique contest that has only been done once before. Organizers are taking some of the ideas and models from the event that took place in Chicago and turning it into a proud Central Valley event with more moving parts, a comprehensive judging system, and giving focus to the small businesses in the area. The event is the Cosies and is to be held Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Westside Theater in Newman. Tickets for all seats are $25.

This semi-formal event will include a special red carpet presentation on Main Street prior to the event. All cosplayers are welcome to enter for a fee of $5. Entry information can be found via the Facebook page norcal.cosies@Facebook.com. Voting will be done by fan voting on Facebook.

The top three in each category will be voted on by all in attendance the night of the awards.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Haven Women’s Center of Stanislaus.
