Escalon Consolidated Fire Protection District will host its annual 9-11 Community Moment of Silence and Prayer on Monday, Sept. 11.

The brief ceremony will be hosted outside the fire station at 1749 Coley Ave., Escalon, and will begin at 9:11 a.m.

Each year, the department puts on the remembrance, featuring guest speakers, a bell ceremony and the raising and lowering of the flag. The service remembers not only those civilians and public safety personnel lost in the 9-11 terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 but also is in honor of James R. Layton, an Escalon service member killed in the line of duty on Sept. 8, 2009 in Afghanistan.

All in the community are welcome to attend the ceremony.
