Escalon fire crews were among those responding to a Monday fire along River Road just outside Oakdale, which resulted in extensive damage to the single story home in the 7100 block of River. Stanislaus Consolidated was lead agency on the fire and called in units from several surrounding departments, along with water tenders, to assist in the firefighting effort. There were no reports of injuries; firefighters attempted to salvage as many personal belongings from the structure as they were able to; River Road was blocked off in the area during the incident.
