Escalon’s first ‘Shooting for the Stable’ Event in September saw a total of 39 people shoot trap that day in memory of Justin Williams, HM3.

“We awarded the first Trap Shooting Team Perpetual Trophy (sponsored by the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation) to a team who named themselves ‘Grumpy Guns’,” said Julie Baker, president of Healing Arenas, which hosted the trap shoot competition and barbecue.

Overall winners were:

Team Trap - Grumpy Guns: Paul Vanderpool, Kathy and Shane Hutchings, Brian and Grumpy Hall.

Adult Division - Shane Hutchings.

Womens Division - Kathy Hutchings.

Youth Division - Garrett Dollarhide.

Barnwood Arms sponsored the seven different guns for drawings, and Pete Caarde won the auction for a Winchester Gun Safe with mystery gun. Grumpy Hall won the Browning 12 gauge over/under shotgun raffle.

“House of Beef eloquently fed 125 wonderful people their famous tri-tip and chicken dinner,” Baker added. “We netted enough to cover scholarships for the Stable Survivor project, begin the development of the Stable Responder Project and possibly scholarships for more Stable Kids projects this next year.

“Thanks to all who support us in our pursuit to help our community.”
