Escalon High School, in cooperation with the Escalon Kiwanis Club, hosted the annual holiday dance for San Joaquin County’s special needs students and adult day program participants on Wednesday.
The old gym at the high school was transformed into a vibrant dance hall, with holiday decorations, a floor for dancing and tables set up for a luncheon as well. Key Club and Friends Helping Friends club members from the high school helped put on the event, which is funded through the Kiwanis Club.
“This is our 12th year,” explained Key Club advisor and EHS teacher Rick Heflin. “We have about 270 people here, kids and staff.”
The luncheon and dance brings in visitors from throughout the county for a day of holiday fun. There is the crowning of the ‘Homecoming’ royalty, a chance for visits and photos with Santa, plenty of dancing, food and fellowship.
