Thursday, June 15 will be observed as national “Dump the Pump” Day.

In recognition of this event, San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) will celebrate with a gift of free travel. All rides on RTD buses for travel within San Joaquin County will be free of charge on June 15. However, Commuter Service buses are not included.

RTD and the San Joaquin Council of Government’s “dibs” program will team up on Thursday, June 15 (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) for this year’s annual “Dump the Pump” celebration. Learn how to put the brakes on gas-guzzling habits by rethinking about the road, and how you use it.

San Joaquin Regional Transit District and dibs employees will be on hand outside the Downtown Transit Center (DTC) with their dueling “Wheels of Fun,” giving away exciting prizes and information on alternative transportation options for San Joaquin County.

Inside the lobby of the DTC, a “re-fueling station” equipped with a “fun”due chocolate fountain, carpool punch, and bicycle brew will be available. Transit mascot Artie D. will be celebrating his birthday, and hopes everyone will use his special gift to ride the bus to the DTC for a little fun.

“dibs” was established by the San Joaquin Council of Governments in 1978 to enhance air quality and help reduce congestion through Transportation Demand Strategies such as carpooling, vanpooling, riding transit and biking and walking.
