The local Escalon Wrestling Club continues to be very busy with wrestling every Sunday. Escalon wrestling is currently going in all three levels with the high school getting ready for their playoffs. El Portal is starting out with new coaches, first year head coach Joey Costa and EWC and EHS head assistant coach Jonathon Costa in his first year as head assistant.

The club continues to grow with a large contingent of members at every tournament, there were about 40 members attending a recent competition in Linden. In the 5- and 6-year-old division Jacob Lee and Aaron Gutierrez both medaled. Adam Cordeiro came in third. Liam Ginger, Freddy Velasco, Johnny Van Dyk all wrestled great and came in second. The 5- and 6-year-old champions continuing to shine were John Kemp and Vincent (Tornado) Reis.

In the beginner 7- and 8-year-old division Luke Konradi took fourth with Frankie Laney, Tyler Powell, Cristian Camera all coming in third. Taking second was Dalton Shinn showing great heart and toughness. Taking second in the experienced division was Noah Dooley. Looking great in taking the title was Roman Hinojosa.

In the 9- and 10-year-old age division EWC wrestlers Mikey Bell, Tyler Bogle, and Ben Gonzales wrestled well taking third, Ethan Telez and Beau Morgan did a great job making the finals, taking second place.

EWC Wrestling Club had two champions with John Konradi taking first in beginners division and winning his first tournament in the experienced division was Logan Dooley.

In the 11- and 1year-old division Talan Reider and Luis Garcia both took second. Tournament champions were Christian Rowe and Sammy Hinojosa with Frankie Rodriguez bouncing back from a tough start to take first place honors, for the first time this year.

In the 13- to 15-year-old experienced division, Sabastian Snow took third and Luis Garcia took second, while Thomas Rowe continued to impress taking first place.

EWC continues strong through spring and will take new members any time.
