Saturday, March 12, Escalon FFA competed at the California State University and Butte College FFA Field Day. The event is hosted by professors and students from the College of Agriculture, with a variety of career development contests offered. “Judging teams,” as members most commonly say, compete for both team and individual student recognition.

In the Agricultural Pest Control contest, the team placed fourth, with member Sophia Rexin placing fourth as an individual. In the Veterinary Science contest, the team had a second place finish with Julia Orlando placing fourth and Maia Zack placing fifth as individuals. In the Agriscience Fair, the Advanced Team was first, with Morgan Hogue placing first and Matt Lima placing third as individuals. The Novice Agriscience team was third. The Farm Power and Machinery Team and the Livestock Judging Teams both had a fourth place finish. The Vegetable Crops Judging placed fifth.

Escalon FFA will compete at field days in Merced, Modesto, Fresno, and San Luis Obispo in the upcoming weeks. Members look forward to traveling, meeting new people, and most importantly, demonstrating their career-specific skill set and knowledge learned from their time in agriculture classes and the FFA.
