Early Morning Altercation Ends In Death
Rocky Overturf

An early morning fight behind the Valley Inn on Escalon’s Main Street left one man with fatal injuries and another being sought in his death.

Escalon Police Chief Mike Borges said that local resident Rocky Overturf, 26, is being sought in connection with the death of a 36-year-old man, also from Escalon, who died after an altercation during the early morning hours Sunday, Nov. 20.

Overturf is wanted by the Escalon Police Department for homicide.

According to information posted on the police department website, Overturf got involved in a verbal altercation with the 36-year-old victim at the Valley Inn in Escalon. Overturf subsequently left the bar in a dark colored vehicle. The victim exited the rear of the bar. Overturf drove to the rear of the bar and again confronted the victim. Police said Overturf hit the victim, causing him to fall and strike his head on the ground. The victim died as a result of his injuries.

If anyone knows of Overturf’s whereabouts or is a witness to this incident, they are asked to contact Detective Hardgraves with the Escalon Police Department at 209-838-7093.

Borges said an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow to determine the exact cause of death.

“When officers arrived, they were doing CPR on him,” Borges said of attempts to revive the man.

Hardgraves is the lead investigator on the case with Sgt. Milt Medeiros the supervising officer.
