Tempt your palate and support some students.

The Dent Elementary PTO, Parent Teacher Organization, is hosting its seventh annual Edible Expo on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Escalon Community Center. Festivities will start at 6 p.m. and run until about 11 p.m.

The expo brings in a variety of food and drink vendors from around the region, showcasing the tastes of the Central Valley. Many of the vendors are from Escalon, with a few from outside the city as well.

Among those signed up to offer food samples are: D’Boni’s, Shorty’s, Leonardo’s Café, Tacos de Nieve, Starbucks, Hula’s, Mountain Mikes, Escalon Premier Brands, Hilmar Cheese, Wong’s Chinese Deli, Rosa’s Bakery, Wingstop, Mary Beth’s Corner Store and Deli, Stagno sausage, Island Gourmet and MarVal Main Street Market. There will be beer and wine tasting as well, in addition to pomtini’s.

Tickets for the expo are $50 each and are available at the Dent Elementary School office and will also be available at the door.

Along with the food and drink, there are many items up for grabs in the live auction. Among them will be the highly coveted ‘Principal for a Day’ opportunity where parents bid for the chance for their Dent student to be appointed as ‘principal’ for a day, working with Dent principal Anthony Varni. Also among the offerings this year, a catered dinner for 10 by Blodgett Catering, a taco party for 20 by Tacos de Nieve, a set of four San Francisco 49er tickets, and a ‘Burger with a Buddy’ lunch for six students with Varni and Dent assistant principal Matt Loretelli at Hula’s in Escalon.

The evening will also feature a DJ providing music for dancing following the tasting and auction. Proceeds help the Dent PTO provide funds for special school programs and field trips for students.
