Make plans now to attend the free Community Thanksgiving Dinner, set for Thursday, Nov. 23 – Thanksgiving Day – from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Escalon Community Center. All are welcome; no cost to attend this traditional Thanksgiving feast, with turkey and all the trimmings as well as dessert. Join the hunt for rocks, being hidden this month by members of the Escalon Grange Hall. Officials said 20 specially decorated rocks are being hidden around the community. They can be redeemed for food items at D’Boni’s Pizza. The rocks are now available; start hunting.

A new, free After School Good News Club is now being offered each Wednesday at Trinity Church. The Good News Club is open to boys and girls in second through fifth grades and features non-denominational Bible-based teaching with Bible stories, activities, songs, snacks, crafts and more. All are welcome to attend the upcoming accordion music and social on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. The gathering will be hosted at the Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave., and will be the regular monthly meeting of the Good Time Accordion Club. The Kris Kringle Market is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Saron Lutheran Church on North Street. All are welcome to join in; bring your children and grandchildren to the market for a wonderful day of fellowship and for the kids to have their picture taken with Santa. It will be a fun day with an array of fine hand-crafted gifts, delicious baked goods, and homemade jams to purchase for the holidays. For a small fee, you will have an opportunity to buy a lunch of baked potatoes with toppings, including chili, as well as snacks and drinks. Join the fun and get into the Holiday spirit.

Come get some holiday shopping started at the Craft Fair hosted at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parish Center, 55 Oak Ave., Oakdale. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Many booths will feature handmade items, along with an assortment of toys, quilts, jewelry and commercial vendors, baked goods, and food. There will also be holiday photos by Hudson Photography, including pictures with Santa; photos are offered at $5 each and are ready in an hour. The craft fair is sponsored by the YLI, Young Ladies Institute, Mater Christi #140.

The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. Regional Transit District has announced the new free Artie D.’s Shopper Shuttle – the easy, convenient way to move from mall to mall. You can catch the Shopper Shuttle in the east parking lot between JC Penney and Sears at Weberstown Mall; by The Patio and Dick’s Sporting Goods at Sherwood Mall; and between HomeTown Buffet and Five Guys at Stone Creek Village Shopping Center. The shuttle will run about every 20 minutes, so you don’t have to wait around for too long. The Shopper Shuttle will operate from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Golden Agers weekly dances are open to those 50 and older from throughout the Central Valley at the Riverbank Community Center. Doors open Wednesdays at 9 a.m.; the center is at 3600 Santa Fe St., and first time guests are admitted free. The annual membership fee is $12 and each Wednesday members pay $5 and non-members can enjoy a few hours of music and dancing for $6.
