A fundraising night to benefit the Relay For Life of Escalon will be hosted at D’Boni’s Pizza in Escalon on Wednesday, April 26 between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Mention that you’re there for Relay For Life and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the local event. D’Boni’s Pizza is at 2249 Jackson Ave., Escalon. Good for eat in, take out or delivery.

Plan to attend the annual ‘Build Your Own’ omelet dinner, put on by the Escalon United Methodist Church and scheduled for this Saturday, April 29. The dinner includes a made-to-order omelet, potatoes, biscuits, fruit and beverage with tickets priced at $8 for adults, $4 for children under 10, children under five eat for free. The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 3. Get your tickets now for a Thursday, May 4 Texas Roadhouse dinner, which will be staged at El Portal Middle School, 805 First St., Escalon. Buy your tickets from any Relay For Life committee or team member, then come to the school parking lot anytime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on May 4 to pick up your pulled pork and chicken breast dinner, which also includes coleslaw, corn and bread and butter. Cost per ticket is $15 and proceeds benefit the Relay For Life of Escalon, which is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21 at Escalon High School.

All interested can join the Escalon Historical Society on a fundraising trip to Lodi aboard Amtrak. The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 4 and the train departs from Modesto’s Amtrak Station at 1700 Held Drive at 9:36 a.m. The train returns at 6:39 p.m. Cost is $30 per person. All are welcome to attend and enjoy a great day in Lodi. Come out for the train ride, then visit restaurants, go shopping, sample the wine and cheese and have a lot of fun with the society as a fundraiser for the local museum. A special Mother’s Day Tea will be presented at the McHenry Mansion in Modesto on Saturday, May 13. The Tea Luncheons have been a tradition for many local families and, as always, benefit the Mansion Foundation in maintaining this historical location. McHenry Mansion is at 906 15th St., Modesto and two seatings are planned for the May 13 event. Coming up on Saturday, May 6 it’s another Science Saturday event at the Escalon Public Library on Second Street, this time featuring Bubblesmith Sterling Johnson. The noontime show is open to all ages; come and see this bubblesmith share the science of bubbles. Later in the month, Uncle Jer’s Traveling Bee Show comes to the library on Saturday, May 20. Also set for noon, the program will provide information about the society of bees, film clips and insight into how a hive works.

An Armed Forces Day Concert is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 7 p.m. at Ripon Christian High School Performing Arts Center, 435 Maple Ave., Ripon. Voices for the King, a male chorus, will perform inspirational and patriotic music in recognition of national armed service members, local law enforcement and fire department members along with a color guard presentation. This concert is free.

San Joaquin County Senior Awareness Day has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 24 this year. Events will be hosted at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds and run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Theme for the day will be the Fabulous 50’s and there will be food, entertainment, a classic car show, wellness walk, senior art show, Bingo, a variety of exhibitors and more, in addition to multiple fun giveaways.
