Summer is (almost) officially here – school is out, temperatures are approaching the century mark and the San Joaquin County Fair is fast approaching.

Dates for this year’s fair are Wednesday, June 12 through Sunday, June 16 with the fair staged at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton.

Gates open daily at noon, with the exhibit buildings open from noon to 10 p.m. daily.

The midway and carnival hours are noon to midnight each day.

Along with the variety of displays and exhibits, the rides and games of the midway are always a major drawing card. Local FFA and 4-H members have also been preparing for the fair, with multiple competitions due for the livestock, arts, crafts and special projects.

Grandstand events, offered above and beyond the regular admission price, range from motorcycle races on June 13 to the Max National Tractor Pull on June 14.

There will be tractor pulls with hay squeeze races on June 15 and the popular international bull riding is featured on June 16.

Throughout the fairgrounds, strolling acts will perform and there will also be a family fun zone stage, free of charge, that will provide plenty of entertainment throughout the five days of the fair, and hypnotist Suzy Haner returns for another year.

Admission tickets and carnival ride tickets can be purchased online, visit www.sanjoaquinfair.com for additional information.
