Despite triple digit heat, Escalon residents turned out in force for Tuesday night’s National Night Out observance.

The Tuesday, Aug. 1 festivities were part of the nationwide celebration, with neighbors gathering for potlucks, barbecues and ice cream socials, getting out into the streets, meeting city staff members and emergency services personnel and ‘taking back the night’ against crime.

There were eight different stops along the route for the caravan of officials, who spent roughly 15 to 20 minutes at each stop, then motored off to the next.
