Chamber Preps For Sale, Pumpkin Day In The Park

With the annual citywide yard sale now on the calendar, Escalon Chamber of Commerce officials are offering up spaces in the Main Street Park for residents to come and sell their wares as well.

Designed for those that may not have room to host a yard sale or those that live outside the city limits, this is a great opportunity to come into town and take advantage of the increased foot traffic for the annual citywide yard sale day.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7 and spaces in the Main Street Park, at least 20 feet by 20 feet, will be available for a $25 donation to the Escalon Chamber of Commerce. Set up begins at 7 a.m.; the sale day itself runs from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Contact Chamber officials for more information. Vendors are also welcome.

Meanwhile, those interested in participating in the citywide sale and having their address listed on the map can pay a $5 fee and return the form to City Hall by Wednesday, Oct. 4. The maps indicating where the sales are will be available at local businesses and City Hall beginning Thursday, Oct. 5.

Escalon Chamber, along with hosting sites in the park for Yard Sale Day on Oct. 7, will offer the fifth annual Homemade Costume Contest and Pumpkin Carving for its family-friendly Sunday in the Park gathering on Oct. 8.

Free for all kids, there will be pumpkin carving from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the costume contest from noon to 12:30 p.m., right by the Main Street Stage.

Antique cars on display will feature Halloween themes, the historic caboose will be open for tours and there will be popcorn, fun and prizes.
