In a new episode of ‘Caltrans News Flash,’ work crews can be seen removing thousands of fire-damaged trees and re-seeding hundreds of acres of fire-scarred hillsides that could threaten multiple mountain highways in a storm. The major recovery effort follows the deadly North Bay Fires in Napa and Sonoma counties, which started Oct. 8, 2017, and destroyed structures, forced thousands of evacuations and caused major highway closures. Caltrans is performing the work alongside other local agencies while keeping mountain highways open with only minimal intermittent closures.
