Back for a sixth year, the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event, Relay For Life, will be hosted again in Escalon for 2016. The first of the season fundraisers for the Relay was hosted Monday night, Jan. 25 at D’Boni’s Pizza, with a portion of proceeds from the night benefitting the local event.

Chairperson Arianna Kennedy said she felt the fundraiser went well and “any support is appreciated” for the Relay.

This year’s kickoff is also planned for this week, set for Thursday night, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Escalon Azores Hall on First Street.

“It will be informational and we’ll have some fun regarding the upcoming Relay,” said Kennedy. “We will be revealing the date and the theme at kickoff.”

Escalon’s annual Relay For Life has been hosted at Escalon High School each year so far. Anyone interested in learning more about the event and getting involved, either as a team captain, team member or committee person, is encouraged to attend the Thursday night kickoff.
