artist

Delicato Vineyards is hosting its 29th annual Fine Art Show from Wednesday, Jan. 11 through Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. The public is encouraged to visit the judged art that will be on display throughout the Tasting Room. All art in this show will be available for sale on a first come first sale basis.

Artists who would like to participate in the contest are encouraged to bring their entries to the Delicato Tasting Room from now through Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 and from Monday, Jan. 2 through Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017. An application may be obtained by phoning, e-mailing, or visiting the Wine Tasting Room in Manteca. It is also posted on the website: www.dfvtastingroom.com. Delicato Vineyards is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is on Highway 99, four miles north of Manteca.

Up to five piece of art per artist may be entered ($9 per entry) in the competition. The contest is open to entries by the creators of original art produced within the last three years. The Manteca Tasting Room staff will be accepting entries from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mediums of acrylic, watercolor, pastel, oil, charcoal or ink will be accepted. Photographs, computer altered and regular, should be entered in the June 2017 Photography Show.

Judging of the original pieces in the categories of Landscape, Floral, Portrait, Animals, Whimsical, and Other will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7. If all categories receive sufficient entries, 20 awards totaling over $1,600 will be presented at the Feb. 4 award ceremony.

The judge for 2017 is Peggi Kroll-Roberts from Angels Camp. She is an award-winning artist who was trained at Arizona State University and the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She worked as a fashion and advertising illustrator before finding her true calling in fine art. Using intense color and value to accentuate her subjects, she moved into fine art with a bold palette, a love for small paintings and a very loose style that achieves a lot with very few energetic brush strokes. She has won several awards and participates in many exhibitions throughout the United States.

Numerous styles of art from many West Coast artists will be on display at Delicato and there is free admission to the public. Visitors will be encouraged to taste the latest wine releases while viewing and/or purchasing the art. Attendees should also vote for their favorite image, as there is a competition among the artists for the covered Visitors’ Award.
