Kids, as well as adults, can take advantage of virtual programs offered through the Escalon Library.

Some virtual programs are scheduled through the Escalon branch library during January, 2022.

Tuesday, Jan. 11 brings a pair of events. At 3 p.m., join in for the Escalon Monthly Spice Club. Participants can explore a world of flavor from the comfort of their own home. Each month this fun and informative program will explore new spices, their history, how to use them and a few recipes to try. Spice kits (include a small amount of the spice) can be picked up in the library at 1540 Second St., Escalon, while supplies last. January’s spice is Garam Masala.

At 4 p.m. on Jan. 11, all area youngsters, ages eight to 12, are welcome to join in for the Virtual Writing Group. This will allow children to practice their writing with little to no pressure. Included will be a discussion of popular writing tips and then virtual attendees will write for a set amount of time.

Scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 13 and designed for adults and seniors, the Gadget Clinic is available to those who need basic assistance with the computer, a personal mobile device, tablet or E-reader. The Escalon Library currently offers one-on-one assistance by appointment. Call the library to schedule your appointment (209) 937-8221, and ask to be transferred to the Escalon Library. Those making an appointment for the Gadget Clinic should have all required account info and passwords memorized or written down. Also offered on Thursdays, Jan. 20 and 27.

The Tween Teen Camera Shaped Journal program will be Thursday, Jan. 13 at 4 p.m.

Stop by the Escalon Library and pick up a kit to create a camera shaped journal. You can make it on your own or join in virtually as library staffers make one at the Jan. 13 virtual session. All necessary supplies included except scissors. See the New Year through a new lens.

On Tuesday, Jan. 18 from 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., those interested can join in for a virtual community support group for those who are caring for a loved one. A place to come together and share struggles, stress, ideas, resources and triumphs.

Known as Caregivers Connect – Virtual Support Group, those planning to attend can contact the library and will receive an email with the link to the virtual Microsoft Teams meeting.
