Always on the lookout for ways to promote the advancement of children and families, members of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Oakdale-Riverbank-Escalon Branch will learn about the activities of the Imagination Library of Stanislaus County at their Saturday, March 11, 10 a.m. meeting to be held at the Escalon Branch Library, 1540 Second St., Escalon.

Before retirement, Susan Rich, former Assistant Superintendent of the Stanislaus County Office of Education, took on the challenge of helping to grow the Imagination Library of Stanislaus County, an affiliate of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. After retiring from SCOE, Rich volunteered to continue to grow the program that had already been established. Its goal is to inspire a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five. Rich, who obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California at Davis and her Masters Degree of Arts from the University of San Francisco, will talk about her work with the local organization as well as inform those present as to how they can help support the initiative. A light lunch will be served at a cost of $14 following the meeting. Reservations are needed; payment can be made at the meeting.

Attendees must be fully vaccinated. Members, guests and prospective members attending this on-site/online meeting can call (209) 847-0271 or email tcjake15@gmail.com for details or Zoom information.
