Coming off a tough loss in the Section finals on Friday, Escalon has to regroup quickly, as it will host a first round game in the NorCal Division IV girls basketball tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip off time in the Cougar Dome. Escalon comes in as the number 3 seed and will host the Notre Dame Regents out of San Jose, the tournament’s number 14 seed.

Notre Dame, with a 14-12 overall record, was fourth in its West Bay-Foothill League but is riding a four-game winning streak, including their most recent victory in the Central Coast Division 3 championship game.

Escalon, at 28-3 overall, went 10-2 in Trans-Valley League play and earned a share of the title. They lost in the Division 4 Section finals to Colfax.

Winner on Tuesday night advances to the second round on Thursday, Feb. 29 to play the winner of the first-round match between number 6 seed University Prep out of Redding and number 11 Riverbank. An Escalon win would give the girls another home game as they are a higher seed than both University Prep and their TVL rival Lady Bruins.
