Highway 120 Crash Investigated
chp

Traffic was detoured around a mid-afternoon accident west of Escalon on Tuesday, July 5.

Few details were available at press time, though the CHP traffic incident page indicated the crash occurred at Highway 120 and Sexton Road. It was classified as a fatality but no other information was available regarding a possible fatal victim.

The CHP received a report of the crash just after 2 p.m., indicating it was a big rig versus a sedan, with the sedan striking the semi-truck.

Escalon Police were on scene to assist with traffic control as both lanes were blocked; Escalon Fire also responded. Traffic was diverted to Sexton and Van Allen. A flatbed tow truck was requested to the scene about 3 p.m. and authorities also reported that a PG&E power pole was struck and cracked. Railroad tracks near the intersection at Sexton and Highway 120 were at least partially blocked, with a stoppage of trains in the area while the big rig was removed.
