Three Escalon City Council seats are up for election in November, with the three incumbents and one challenger running for the available posts.

Escalon does not have districts within the city, all candidates run at large and the top three vote getters in the November election will win the four-year terms.

The Escalon Times, in cooperation with the City of Escalon, will be putting on a Council Candidate Forum this month to give city residents the chance to hear from the candidates.

In the running are incumbents, Mayor Andy Hagan, Mayor Pro Tem Malinda Walker and Councilman Jeremy Engle, along with challenger, Jason Perruquet, a parent seeking his first term on the council.

The Candidate Forum will be hosted at the Escalon Community Center and is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

There will be some questions provided to candidates prior to the forum as well as some asked at the forum. Those in the community that have a question can submit it to Escalon City Manager Jaylen French via email, jfrench@cityofescalon.org for possible use at the Sept. 24 forum.

The event will feature a brief introduction of the candidates, and will also include a moderator to ask the questions in addition to a timekeeper, as the candidate responses will be timed in order to provide an opportunity for each candidate to answer every question.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3; the candidates winning the seats will begin their four-year terms in January, 2027.
