Putting a new twist on a popular event, the Escalon High School Art and Music departments are presenting a Zombie Color Run on Friday, Oct. 23 with a 5 p.m. start time at Escalon High School.

Costumes are encouraged; there will be prizes, music and food available for purchase at the event.

Cost to register is $25. The Color Run is being hosted on a Friday night but it is during the bye week for the football program, so it will not interfere with any games on the high school campus.

The Escalon Educational Foundation put on a Color Run for several years at the high school but the organization disbanded during the spring of 2026 and canceled the event at that time. Now the color run has been picked up, though with a new fall date and the fun ‘Zombie’ twist.

“This is a family friendly event,” said Escalon High School art teacher Jewell Kelley. “The proceeds will go to supporting both the Art and Music programs.”

Flyers around town feature artwork created by students to promote the event and include a QR code for signing up.

“Early registration by October 2 will include a T-shirt,” Kelley added. “Art club students will be on hand before the event to do make up.”

Those registered for the run can purchase the special make up starting at 3:30 p.m. on race day.

The color run will feature a course around the high school campus along with multiple color stations, where participants can choose to have the colorful powder tossed at them or avoid it.

Along with raising money for art and music programs, Kelley said the goal is to have fun and get in to the Halloween spirit with some fellow ‘zombies.’
