Harvest Fests, Halloween Gatherings Being Offered

The next couple of weeks will be busy ones in the community, with a number of churches putting on events.

First up, the Escalon United Methodist Church Holiday Bazaar and Luncheon is set for Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 2000 Jackson Ave.

This year mark the 24th annual bazaar. There will be handmade crafts and gifts including holiday items, embroidered dish towels, wood crafts, aprons, jams and jellies, candies, biscotti and more. Also, there will be an opportunity drawing for a queen sized quilt; need not be present to win. Ready to bake pies will be for sale, priced at $10 for apple, apricot, peach and strawberry rhubarb; $11 for blackberry, boysenberry and raspberry.

A soup and pie luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., including soup, Genova French bread, pie and beverage for $8; half lunch also available.

Escalon Christian Reformed Church, meanwhile, is getting ready for its annual Harvest Party, being offered at the church on California Avenue. Date for this year’s event is Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; children are encouraged to come in costume but nothing too spooky. There will be food, games, a petting zoo and fun for all. No cost to attend.

On Wednesday, Oct. 30 bring the kids to a Fall Festival at Escalon Covenant Church, featuring their popular Trunk or Treat, from 5:45 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Escalon Covenant is at 1155 Escalon Ave.; there will be candy, games, decorated cars, music, free hot dogs and more. All kids are welcome to come in costume and make the rounds of the decorated cars, playing games and receiving a variety of candy treats.

Saron Lutheran Church will serve up its third annual Kris Kringle Market on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the church social hall, 1742 North St., Escalon, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Holiday items, baked goods, handmade and homemade crafts, gift ideas and more will be featured. Lunch and snacks will be for sale and, new this year, holiday items designed for furry friends will be for sale as well.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., bring the kids in for a photo session, as there will be a special appearance by Santa.
