Local business Lumberyard Cellars, at 1455 First St., Escalon, in The Merchant Yard building, will be the site of a food collection to benefit area families.
“We were made aware of an immediate need for the Escalon CARE (Community Action Resources of Escalon) food bank, needing mac and cheese, canned vegetables, etc., so Lumberyard Cellars is putting on a food drive,” said co-owner Megan Webb. “People can drop off food donations to Lumberyard Cellars, Thursday through Sunday, while we are open.”
Hours at the wine tasting venue are Thursday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
“These donations are helping families in our neighborhoods and community put food on the table,” Webb explained. “We have had many generous donations already but there is still a great need.”
The CARE Center, at 1601 Second St., Escalon, serves families and individuals in need of food in the Escalon, Farmington and Collegeville areas. Most needed items for this particular drive are canned vegetables, macaroni and cheese, soup and other food pantry items. All donations are welcome and appreciated.
