Four fireworks booths will be scattered throughout the community beginning the last week of June, with sales of the July 4 fireworks benefitting various organizations. The booths sell the ‘Safe and Sane’ fireworks approved by the State Fire Marshal and can be used in the city limits.

One booth is always set aside for the Escalon Parks Foundation on behalf of the City of Escalon and has a standard site in the Escalon Shopping Center on Jackson Avenue, adjacent to Hula’s and D’Boni’s.

The other three booths are chosen by random in a lottery-type drawing of applicants. This year’s winners were Heritage Church, which will set up in the church parking lot at 1155 Escalon Avenue; Van Allen Parents Club, which will have its booth in the Strand’s Ace Hardware parking lot at 3360 McHenry; and Trinity Church, which will be set up in the MarVal parking lot in the 1900 block of McHenry.

“Booths can operate beginning at 12 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, June 28,” city Recreation Services Coordinator Bridget Gaines said.

She added that, per State of California Fireworks Law and City Municipal Code, the booths can remain operating through midnight on Monday, July 4. Hours for each individual organization’s booth may vary, but all four can operate from June 28 through July 4.
