Fire Department Hosting 9-11 Remembrance Service
Mem 9/11

Local residents are invited to attend the 9-11 Community Moment of Silence and Prayer, remembering Sept. 11, 2001.

The gathering will be hosted at the Escalon Fire District, at the Coley Avenue firehouse, 1749 Coley.

This year will be the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in 2001 and the memorial service will begin at 9:11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Special recognition will be given for James R. Layton, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on Sept. 8, 2009 in service to this country, and for the late Jim Davis, who served many years as the department chaplain.

Fire Chief Rick Mello said due to COVID-19, several guidelines will be utilized.

Social distancing guidelines will be followed during all portions of the gathering. This will be an outdoor event and access to the fire station building will be limited.
