The local GAR Bennett business, at 1433 Main in Escalon, is supporting Valley families struggling with hunger and encouraging residents to help in the effort as well.
The 2021 Feeding Families Fund Drive is underway and financial donations can be dropped off through Friday, Sept. 17 at GAR Bennett – Escalon or submitted online at ccfoodbank.org/match/.
Every $10 donated to the effort feeds a family of four for a week and just a $40 donation would feed a family for a month. GAR Bennett will provide some matching funds for each donation made. For instance, a $50 local donation would grow to $75 with the GAR Bennett match, providing food for a family for two more weeks.
Funds will help get food for families through the Central California Food Bank. That food bank supports 180 agencies and soup kitchens with 38 million pounds of food each year. This is the eighth annual Feeding Families Fund Drive and is hosted cooperatively by GAR Bennett, the Central California Food Bank, The Market, Farm Credit, KMJ Radio (Fresno) and Me-N-Ed’s Pizzeria.
