This weekend is 'Fill the Boot for Burns' in Farmington. Friday, February 18 through Monday February 21. Donations will be collected at Highway 4 and Escalon-Bellota intersection. All donations are given to the Firefighters Burn Institute and used to improve burn victim's treatment. The monies provide research, counseling for the victims and their families. They also provide camps for young burn victims ages 3 through 17. Firefighters are dedicated to this cause, and it is all on a volunteer basis. Last year Farmington raised $22,150.00. Since 1999 through 2010 they have raised $210,852.26. Having witnessed what a burn victim has to go through, this money goes for a worthy cause. You can visit the web site at www.ffburn.org.

One of my readers brought to my attention an event that is held once a month throughout the winter months at the Snow Ranch, which is located east of Farmington on Highway 4. If you are a rocket enthusiast or not, this might make for a fun and interesting day for the family. The Livermore Unit of the National Association of Rocketry, also known as 'LUNAR' teaches and exchanges modeling techniques and flies models and high powered rockets. Depending on the weather, the next launch is scheduled for March 5, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are no amenities, so bring what you think you might need. They will provide porta potties for the event. To learn more, you can visit their website at hhtp://lunar.org/events.shtml
