With a new year just begun, the Escalon Historical Society is already getting busy.

The museum, at 1630 Main St., will be the site for an Escalon Chamber of Commerce Mixer, scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13. The mixer will run from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and will include appetizers and beverages, from hot cider to coffee, wine and water. There will also be a drawing for a door prize and all are invited to attend the mixer to learn more about the Chamber and the city’s Historical Society and Museum.

New society president Dave Russell said he is looking forward to serving his term and was on hand at the museum this past Saturday, Jan. 4, to meet and greet residents.

The museum is open Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., additional hours are by request and school tours can also be arranged by calling 209-838-8070.

A special gathering, the first Wednesday of each month, is ‘Reminisce Day’ with all invited to come and share stories of old time Escalon and take a look at the extensive collection of artifacts and memorabilia.

New members are always welcome for the Historical Society, which marked its 30th anniversary in 2019 and now embarks on its 31st year of serving the community.

Also in the planning stages is a bus trip to Black Oak Casino for February, with additional details to be announced at a later date.

Officials also remind residents that the museum has ongoing fundraisers such as the ‘Buy A Brick’ effort and sales of multiple items in the gift shop.
