Four people were arrested in connection with an early Sunday morning brawl, with one booked on felony charges and three others on misdemeanors.

Police were called to the scene in the 1200 block of Plaza on a reported disturbance outside a local pub and, arriving on the scene, found several subjects in a physical fight. Four officers were initially dispatched to the scene and quickly called in reinforcements, with three additional officers responding from Ripon.

According to police, the fight is believed to have started when one of the subjects reportedly pushed another's girlfriend in the bar, and the dispute spilled out into the parking lot. When police officers arrived, the subjects surrounded them and officers had to use a Taser on one of the subjects due to his threatening manner. Another verbally assaulted a Police Explorer on the scene, police said.

When the situation was under control, police had four people in custody.

Zachary Schaefer, 25, of Manteca was booked at San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of felony battery, battery with serious bodily injury and public intoxication. Also booked were a 29-year-old Stockton man for fighting in public, resisting arrest and public intoxication; a 34-year-old Stockton man for fighting in public, using offensive words in a public place and public intoxication; and a 35-year-old Stockton man for fighting in public and public intoxication. All were booked at county jail on the misdemeanor counts.

Additionally, said police, information was forwarded to the District Attorney's office for review and four additional people may face charges in the case as well.

Escalon officers responding to the scene were Gustavo Flores, Richard Francis, Rodney Small and Explorer Mallory Schulz. The incident was reported at 12:54 a.m. Sunday.
