E-Waste Disposal Day Set For City

The next electronic waste disposal day schedule for the City of Escalon is on the calendar for Sunday, April 7.

Items can be dropped off that day at the parking lot of the Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Acceptable E-Waste items are televisions, computer monitors, VCRs, radios and stereos, answering machine, telephones, cassette tapes and 8-tracks, microwaves, cell phones, printers, fax machines and CPUs. Also accepted at this event will be mercury devices, household batteries (no car batteries accepted) and Styrofoam (no peanuts). The city offers four collection events each year, with two on Saturday and two on Sunday. The first collection was back in January, with the next one coming up the first weekend of April. Additional 2019 dates are July 6 and Oct. 6.

City residents are also being reminded about a water rate increase that will be reflected on City of Escalon March utility bills; the residential base rate will rise from $47.29 to $51.45 with water consumption rates also changing. Tier 1 goes from $1.03 to $1.12; Tier 2 from $1.18 to $1.29; Tier 3 from $1.34 to $1.46.

Upcoming meetings for the city in April currently on the schedule include the Escalon City Council on Monday, April 1 at 7 p.m. and again on April 15 at 7 p.m., with the Recreation Commission meeting on Wednesday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. and the Planning Commission scheduled to meet on April 9 at 7 p.m.
