It has become a popular fall tradition; mark the calendar for the first Saturday in October and plan to do some treasure hunting.

The annual citywide yard sale in Escalon will return for its 34th year and sign-ups are being taken now for the Oct. 3 event.

There is a $5 fee to register and get your address on the map that will be available to those coming in to peruse the yard sales.

It has continued to grow over the years and both Escalon city and county addresses are accepted.

Sign-ups are due and the $5 fee must be paid by Wednesday, Sept. 30. They can be turned in at Escalon City Hall, 2060 McHenry Ave., or you can sign up online at the website, www.cityofescalon.org

The maps will be posted on the City of Escalon Facebook page and they will also be available outside City Hall prior to the start of the yard sale day on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Listed hours for the citywide sale are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; many people arrive sooner than the 8 a.m. start time in hopes of finding the best ‘treasures’ and officials said they have had quite a few sign-ups already, with room for more.

Sales are typically spread from one end of the city to the other, with some more in the country area, providing ample opportunities for yard sale shoppers.
