Donations Needed For EHS Sober Grad Event
Sober Grad

Planning is well underway for the Sober Grad Nite party being hosted for the Class of 2022 at Escalon High School. The event is scheduled for Friday, June 3 from 9:30 p.m. to 3 a.m., set up in and around the Escalon High School Performing Arts Center.

“What we really need right now are gift cards,” said coordinator Krysten Lial.

The Sober Grad Night committee has partnered with the Escalon Educational Foundation to put on the party for the EHS graduating seniors, giving them a safe and sober environment to spend their final night of high school with their friends.

Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door and every student must have a signed permission slip and a waiver to purchase a ticket.

Planned are casino tables, a paint nite, photo booth, laser tag, the popular cornhole tournament – offered last year for the first time and coming back again – along with henna tattoos, music, food and the popular hypnotist show to close out the night.

Doors will close at 11 p.m. and students will not be allowed to leave before 3 a.m. unless they are picked up by a parent.

Lial said they welcome donations of any kind and they make sure that every student attending goes home with some prizes. Especially appreciated are $10 gift cards to locations such as Jamba Juice, Dutch Bros., In-N-Out, Chick-Fil-A and more; while monetary donations can be made by check payable to EHS Sober Grad.

“We like the way it was set up last year,” Lial said, noting that many events previously held inside were moved outdoors due to COVID requirements in 2021. They are keeping many events outside this year again, as it seemed to help with the flow of the overall event, she said. Plus, students entered in to the Performing Arts Center and immediately got to submit their tickets for the various grand prize drawings before starting off on their evening of activity.
