Escalon High School Performing Arts will present its fall show, Antigone, with this version slightly modernized from the original. The play will be presented in the high school’s Performing Arts Center on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Admission is $5 and tickets will be available at the door.

The seventh annual Escalon Wrestling Club Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 4 at the Azores Band Hall, 1432 First St., Escalon.
Registration is at 2 p.m. and play starts at 3 p.m. The cost is a $50 buy-in (pot splits 50/50) and a $20 donation for all you can eat and drink. There will also be $25 unlimited re-buys during the first four blinds (75 percent donation/25 percent pot). Deadline to register is Wednesday, Oct. 31 and the tournament is limited to the first 60 people. Escalon 4-H will be putting on its annual ‘Hunter’s Breakfast’ at Van Allen Elementary School on Saturday, Nov. 3. Going strong for more than 60 years, this year’s edition of the breakfast will run from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Van Allen Multipurpose Room. Tickets are available from all Escalon 4-H members. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, linguica, ham and biscuits and gravy, with proceeds supporting the local 4-H Club and its activities throughout the year. Saron Lutheran Church of Escalon, 1742 North St., is putting on its annual Kris Kringle Market on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a special guest appearance by Santa, who will be there to pose for photos with the kids. On sale will be beautiful homemade crafts, goods, and baked items. Additionally, lunch items will be on sale. This is a good time to get some holiday shopping in, with a variety of unique items available.

Hurry and get your tickets and get entered in the drawing for a special handcrafted wooden dollhouse, with proceeds to support the Escalon Historical Museum. Only 50 tickets will be offered, at $20 each, and the dollhouse is on display in the museum window, 1630 Main St., Escalon. This four-story, handcrafted wooden dollhouse has all the furniture and accessories included and has been completely refurbished. Open Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., tickets can be purchased at the museum and you need not be present to win. The drawing will be held on Dec. 10.

The bash is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15 at the EHS Performing Arts Center, 1528 Yosemite Ave. The evening begins with hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m. and Bunco play begins at 7 p.m. Cost is $25 per person and proceeds benefit the Sober Grad party hosted for graduating seniors with the Class of 2019. The local REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club gathers for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. Golden Agers weekly dances are open to those 50 and older from throughout the Central Valley at the Riverbank Community Center. Doors open Wednesdays at 9 a.m.; the center is at 3600 Santa Fe St., and first time guests are admitted free. The annual membership fee is $12 and each Wednesday members pay $5 and non-members can enjoy a few hours of music and dancing for $6.

The San Joaquin County Office of Education is seeking retirees, high school math whizzes, college students, and other community members to volunteer and share their love of mathematics. Volunteers are needed for the office of education’s Math Easy Tutoring program, which provides free tutoring to any sixth- through 12th grade student who drops in during sessions held at the Margaret K. Troke Library in Stockton. Tutors share their love of mathematics while offering individual attention and encouragement to students struggling in math. Volunteer positions are open to high school students, college students, teachers, engineers, retirees, and other members of the community willing to put in the time to make a difference. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is conducting an art contest to select the design for the state’s 2018-2019 upland game bird stamp.
