Traffic Stop Yields Two Felony Arrests

An early morning alarm call on Friday, July 18 ended with the arrest of two suspects on a variety of charges.

Escalon Police received the call about 3 a.m. and were responding to the alarm and noticed a vehicle with its hazard lights on in the area. Officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 1500 block of Main, and the driver was found to be on probation and a passenger was on parole.

Officers were subsequently able to search the vehicle and found a quantity of methamphetamine.

Arrested were Randy Chew, 27, of Modesto, booked at the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and a parole violation, both felonies; and a 30-year-old female transient, identified as Maureen Buchanan. Police said she had multiple warrants out for her arrest. She was taken into custody for a $25,500 Turlock Police Department warrant for felony possession of a narcotic/controlled substance, a $100,500 Modesto Police Department felony possession of a controlled substance warrant and a $25,000 warrant out of Manteca Police Department for misdemeanor possession. She was booked at county jail.
